{"id":1877,"date":"2011-05-10T06:00:40","date_gmt":"2011-05-10T13:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/dailyevotional\/?p=1877"},"modified":"2011-05-09T13:40:27","modified_gmt":"2011-05-09T20:40:27","slug":"perseverance-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/perseverance-2\/","title":{"rendered":"PERSEVERANCE!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>James 1:4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c40000;\">\u201cLet perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I personally do not care for the word, \u201cperseverance.\u201d In some translations it is called \u201cpatience.\u201d I don\u2019t care for that term either. In the Greek it has this meaning: \u201cDoes not easily succumb under suffering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As I have memorized and meditated on the first chapter of the book of <em>James<\/em>, I have been impressed that James uses the word repeatedly. Over and over he calls for the believer to allow perseverance or patience to complete its work in our life.<\/p>\n<p>If the truth were known most of us feel that the completion of <em>patience <\/em>is when the trials and tribulations in our life come to an end. I do not see this in this scripture and I do not see it in the lives of God\u2019s saints.<\/p>\n<p>The end of perseverance is the awareness that God is doing a work in and through our trials. He is not interested in weak-willed believers who are only interested in feeling good or having an easy walk. God\u2019s faithful saints have gone through the fire of affliction and praised God that they were worthy to suffer for His name.<\/p>\n<p>None of us can be sure of what will happen in our life, but we can be assured that regardless of the circumstances we can find \u201cpure joy\u201d in each and every trial that crosses our path.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts.
