SHARE GOD’S HARVEST!

Leviticus 19:10 – Devotional

Leviticus 19:10

“You shall not gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger.

As a young teen our family lived in Nampa, Idaho. Someone told us that after farmers harvested onions for seed they often dug up the bulbs and dumped them out in the sagebrush. Many evenings found our family sniffing out the air and “gleaning” huge piles of onions. We not only used them ourselves, but we freely shared them with our friends.

It is easy to take in more and more spiritual truth, but leave nothing behind for others to glean. We may possess pages—even entire notebooks—filled with things that have inspired us, but sadly we have never shared them with others.

In today’s Scripture, we are instructed to be generous and caring for those who desperately need food in order to survive. Years later we find this acted out in the life of Ruth when she gleans the fields of Boaz.

Sometimes as we study the Bible we may find the spiritual food that has been left behind for us. After we have “gleaned” the truth of God’s word, we need to leave some along the edges and in the corners of our life for others who need to be fed. What are you leaving for the spiritually famished around you?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S (IF) CONDITIONS! – Leviticus 26:12 Devotional

GOD’S (IF) CONDITIONS!

Leviticus 26:12 – Devotional

Leviticus 26:12

“I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be My people.”

All too often we read the promises of God and neglect the conditions that He gives us in order to receive the promises. Like excited children at the sight of candy, we jump up and down in anticipation without considering the conditions.

Leviticus 26:3 provides the conditions that must be met before we can count on the promised reward. “If you walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them.”

If we walk the aisles of a grocery store and fill our basket with various items, we know that there will come a moment when we stand at the checkout stand and are presented with the cost of our selections.

As we walk the pathways of life we also are making selections. Some may be small and look insignificant, but at the checkout counter we realize the cost is greater than we anticipated. It is then that we feel a hand on our shoulders and a sweet voice in our ear; “I have paid the price! Go in peace!” Wow! What a wonderful God we serve! He does not give us what we deserve, but what we need!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
