GOD’S GIFT OF PEACE!

John 14:25 – Devotional

John 14:25

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.

In 1938, prior to the outbreak of WWII, Lord Sir Neville Chamberlain returned from Germany with a peace compact that was signed by Adolph Hitler. He waved the document and proclaimed, “Peace in our time!” We now know how false that peace really was.

Even today there is a peace that is anything but peaceful. I am told that in the midst of major battles a cease fire is ordered in which both sides stop hostilities for a certain period of time. It may be temporarily quiet, but it is not TRUE PEACE.

Jesus promises His followers peace that is far different from anything the world can offer. It is peace in the midst of the storms of life. It is the peace that God gave to Stephen when he was being stoned to death (Acts 7:54-60). Other martyrs died with that same peace that can only be described as REAL PEACE.

Perhaps you feel like you are being tossed to and fro in the storms of life. It is time to anchor your life to the rock of our salvation and allow the Lord to give you His TRUE PEACE that will last and satisfy your soul.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

LIVING IN CHRIST! – John 14:20 Devotional

LIVING IN CHRIST!

John 14:20 – Devotional

John 14:20

“You will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

Are you seeking harmony in your life? Are things discordant and seemingly out of control? Do you start the day anticipating the chaos that will inevitably present itself before the day has ended?

Those of you who know me personally (my regular readers probably know me better than most people), know I try to provide hope and life in a dismal world.

In John 14:2 we find real hope for the believer: “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” Look it up and read it for a real lift for your soul.

Harmony is not the result of taking a course on organization, although that might benefit many of us. It is not in walking around with signs instructing you to “Don’t worry! Be happy!” Some grouch may lock you up for that.

Harmony is a recognition that there is an order to the universe which is not dependent upon the day-to-day circumstances. It is in being IN Christ Jesus. He confirms that He is in His Father. As we are in Him, He promises to be in us! That is the true essence of LIVING IN CHRIST!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

God So Loved the World (inspired by John 3:16)

VERSE 1

THE LIGHT OF LIFE! – John 6:12b Devotional

THE LIGHT OF LIFE!

John 6:12b – Devotional

John 6:12b

“I am the light of the world. The one who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Those of us who have had the experience of being at the bedside of a believer who is about to slip into eternity, know it is sacred ground. It is always a mixture of sadness and joy.

I have often thought of the death of a believer as being somewhat like saying farewell to a traveler who is departing on a ship for some distant port. The journey may be long (even years) or only a few days or weeks, but our loved one will be missed while we are apart.

When Jesus left this world to return to His Father, He knew His disciples would experience loneliness and would need the Light of Life. That wonderful Light of Life is the precious Holy Spirit.

We have the confident assurance that we are never left alone in this dark world. Oh no! We have the glorious Light of Life continually beside us as we travel the journey the Lord leads us through. Enjoy the journey as you light the way for those who walk beside you!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FOLLOW ME! – John 21:17-22 Devotional

FOLLOW ME!

John 21:17-22 – Devotional

John 21:17-22

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep . . . Follow me!”

Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them . . . When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”

Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This Friday we have a special treat for you. Russ Hansen has combined AI and Scripture to produce an original song entitled, “Follow Me!” inspired by the 13th and 21st chapters of the Gospel of John. Russ would appreciate your feedback at inspiration@thegoodbookcompany.com.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Follow Me (inspired by John 13 & 21)

Verse 1
Peter said, “Lord, I will follow You to death,”
But fear took hold and silence stole his breath.
Three times he swore he’d never known Your name,
Then heard the rooster cry and felt the weight of shame.

Pre-Chorus
But mercy walked beside the waves of Galilee,
A risen Savior calling softly, tenderly.

Chorus
“Follow Me!” You said it once again, “Follow Me!”
“Follow Me!” to a heart so full of pain. “Follow Me!”
When we fail You, when we wander,
Still Your grace will never flee.
Hear Him whisper to your soul:
“Follow Me!”

Verse 2
By the morning charcoal fire You asked him, “Do you love Me?”
Three times the question healed what once had been his grief.
You restored the one who fell, You pulled him from despair,
And called him to Your side with love beyond compare.

Pre-Chorus
And still today Your voice is calling faithfully,
To every wounded heart in need of mercy’s plea.

Chorus
“Follow Me!” You speak it once again,
“Follow Me!” “Follow Me!” to the lost and to the weak. “Follow Me!”
Have you promised you would stand, yet lived in quiet apathy?
Still He calls you back again:
“Follow Me!”

Bridge
Have you ever said you’d follow Him even unto death,
Yet denied Him by the choices you have made each day?
Still His kindness reaches out — restoring lovingly,
And to your trembling heart He says,

Final Chorus
“Follow Me!” He calls you by your name,
“Follow Me!” “Follow Me!” His love forever stays. “Follow Me!”
Leave the shadows, leave the failures — step into His victory.
Hear His voice above it all:
“Follow Me!”

Tag / Outro
Even if it’s been so long
Since your choice was first made,
He is waiting patiently
For you to follow — all the way.
Hear Him calling once again,
“Follow Me!”

Reprise
“Do you love me?”
“Follow Me!”
“Do you love me?”
“Follow Me!”
“Follow Me!”

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S MOST DELICIOUS GIFT! – John 3:16 Devotional

GOD’S MOST DELICIOUS GIFT!

John 3:16 – Devotional

John 3:16

“God loved the world so much that He sacrificed His One and Only Son so that anyone who truly believes receives eternal life.

There are many sinner’s prayers that I have heard preachers and teachers offer for a person to receive Christ as their personal Savior. Being a simple-minded man I must confess that I find myself getting lost in all of the words.

As I read through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, I discover that Jesus spent the days of His ministry teaching people much like me. They were not the brilliant scholars of their day. Most of them were simple, hard working men and women who had faith to receive the bread of eternal life Jesus offered.

I recall being in a campground many years ago. In the parking area there were several wild deer who had become so used to tourists that they would boldly come up to the visitors and eat out of their hands. Signs were posted to try and prevent the practice, but many visitors did it anyway. People will be people!

God has offered to anyone and everyone who will sincerely open their heart and receive life that will last forever. We need to offer this most precious gift that could ever be given with as many people as the Lord leads across our path!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
