REMOVE THE RUST!

John 9:4-5 – Devotional

John 9:4-5

“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

I once received a photo of a can of rust remover that was coated with rust. That photo belied what it should have accomplished. It was a vivid reminder that it is what that is on the inside that truly matters!

As I am reminded of that picture I recall the saying; “It is better to burn out than to rust out.” As I think about it, I cannot recall knowing anyone who worked to death in serving the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sadly I must confess that I have known many who became rusty in the work for the Lord. The fire they once had in service began to flicker and the oil in their lamp ran dry. Instead of returning to the Lord for a fresh supply, they pressed on in their own strength. Sadly, it wasn’t long before spiritual rust began to eat away their luster.

How do we insure that we will not fall into the same rusty rut? I think the answer is in staying close to the Lord in all that we are doing. Rather than doing things to please people, we need to always be focused on pleasing the Lord. That means we need to start each day with prayer and the Word. It is the oil that will lubricate and preserve us for each day, but we need that fresh supply on a daily basis.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

ONE WAY STREET! – John 14:6 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

ONE WAY STREET!

John 14:6 – Devotional

John 14:6

“Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father except by me.”

As born-again believers of Jesus Christ, we stand apart from other man-created belief systems. There is no doubt that we are exclusive and demand that there is only one way to eternal salvation.

Before you get your hackles up read once again what Jesus Himself says in today’s Scripture. He is not (a way), (a truth), or (a life). He is the (only way), the (only truth), and the (only life)! To deny that fact and try to replace it with other belief systems is to condemn one’s self to an eternity without God! Don’t go there!

The magnificent gift that Jesus has extended to anyone who will accept His gift is an eternal home in glory. At the beginning of John 14, Jesus assures all believers in Him that He is at this very moment preparing a specially designed home in glory just for us.

To live for Jesus is to recognize that we live on a one-way street that leads directly to our eternal home. Until we get home we have work to do, so let us never get weary in working for Jesus with joy and rejoicing!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

TIME TO GET TO WORK! – John 4:35 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

TIME TO GET TO WORK!

John 4:35 – Devotional

John 4:35

“Lift up your eyes and look out on the fields; for they are ripe and ready to harvest.”

Is it just human nature to want to stay in our warm and snug comfort zone, or is it the method Satan uses to keep us from doing God’s will and working in His harvest fields?

God wants us to move outside of our comfort zone. Inside our zone of comfort we focus most, if not all of our energy on ourselves to the neglect of the needs of those around us.

The harvest fields that Jesus speaks about in this passage are the lost and dying all around us. There are different types of harvest fields, such as wheat or barley. When each variety is ripe all of the grain is gathered at one time.

Regardless of the variety only when the crop is ripe is it picked. It usually requires many trips to complete the harvest. It is the same way with the souls of men and women. Some may be gathered all at once in a mass crusade, while others must be picked one at a time. As we move out to God’s harvest field it is not our comfort zone that is important, but the harvest that awaits us. Are you ready?

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing!
