FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.“

One summer when I was a young boy, we were challenged to memorize key verses in Scripture. One of those verses was Isaiah 41:10. I cannot begin to tell you how many times across the years this verse has been with me.

In today’s world of GPS (Global Positioning System) technology, there is a voice that gives instructions of where to turn and how far to go before giving the next instruction of where to turn and how far to go. I have known drivers that turn their GPS off just to silence that voice.

I come from a day and age where we learned to read maps. When I worked as a milk man it was necessary to use a code to tell how many intersections to cross, when to turn left or right and which house was to receive the home delivery (I am a very old man!).

God gives us assurance that His voice will always strengthen, help, and uphold us as we obediently follow His word and His way. All we need to do is to … FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! Do not silence His voice.

ASSURANCE!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.“

Today’s verse is one of the first verses I ever memorized. Come to think about it, it may very well be the reason that I am known as more optimistic than pessimistic. It is not me, but the Lord that makes the difference.

God gives us a tremendous promise in this verse. He promises to strengthen us, to help us and to uphold us. Do you realize what that promise should mean to each of us in our daily walk? It means that we can claim victory over every situation.

As I read this verse again, I see that our requirement is very minimal. We are not called upon to do great and mighty works. We do not even have to possess super human abilities.

So what is our part? Do not fear and Do not be dismayed. The reason the Scripture gives us for not fearing or not being dismayed is that God is with us and He is our own personal God. With such a powerful God in control we are free to praise Him and give Him the glory and that my dear friend is ASSURANCE!

“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.“

GOD’S UNIVERSE!

Isaiah 40:26 – Devotional

Isaiah 40:26

“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.“

So many times we read Scripture and fail to grasp that the God who has made all things is trying to tell us something special. Isaiah 40:26 reveals that the Lord knows each of the stars by name. So what is so great about that?

Let me tell you just how great that is. It has been estimated that there are roughly 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone — not even considering other galaxies. If we were to count each of those stars, working day and night, no breaks of any kind, it would take some 2,500 years — yet God knows each of them by name.

Before the twelve stations of the zodiac were perverted by astrologers, they were each assigned to one of the twelve tribes of Israel. The idea that ancient astronomers could see figures in these constellations is ridiculous. There is no way the groupings look like the objects for which they are named. The star groupings, however, do send a powerful message. They are God’s handiwork.

As we reflect on the incredible order and design of God’s universe, we marvel once again at the idea that He loved us so much that Jesus Christ came to provide our salvation. It may be a setting sun, but when the stars begin to appear in the sky, it is GOD’S UNIVERSE ON DISPLAY!
