I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN! – Acts 4:12 Devotional

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN!

Acts 4:12 – Devotional

Acts 4:12

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

It makes me cringe when I hear someone state that they have always been a Christian. Beeep!! That is so far from scripturally sound that it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

The sad thing is that many people fail to truly become believers because they have been taught that they have always believed in God. If someone has “always been a Christian,” then the Bible is false. God’s Word repeatedly tells us that we must experience a new birth in order to obtain salvation.

Nicodemus was a devout and knowledgeable teacher of the Jews. He knew all of the man-made requirements that seemingly would make a person right with God. Jesus shook his thinking when He told Nicodemus he had to be born again (John 3).

The question you need to pose for yourself is this: “Have I experienced the new birth?” If not, you need to open your heart, confess that you are a sinner, and ask Jesus to come in and make you His child. Have you done that?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

OUR HEAVENLY HOME! – Acts 7:55 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

OUR HEAVENLY HOME!

Acts 7:55 – Devotional

Acts 7:55

“Stephen, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

The word “heaven” is mentioned over 575 times in the Bible. The problem is in knowing how to get there. As often as possible I strive to insure we know for certain we are heaven bound.

Fiction writers have performed a horrible disservice by depicting that entry into heaven is gained by doing more good deeds than bad ones. They have even depicted a book showing which deeds outweigh the other. More good you go to heaven; more bad you go to hell. Beep!  Again, sadly that is false!

It is tragic that so many people have little or no concern about spiritual matters, yet they try to convince themselves that heaven is where they are going when they die. They think that just because they want to go there. Beep! Sadly that is false!

God’s Word says we must individually invite Him, Jesus into our heart. That insures us entrance into God’s glorious heaven. I urge you to invite your friends and family to receive God’s glorious invitation to His heaven. It is freely offered to us, but it cost God His own dear Son. What love He has for us!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

ONE ACCORD! – Acts 2:1 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

ONE ACCORD!

Acts 2:1 – Devotional

Acts 2:1

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”

I recall my days spent in Officers Training School with the United States Air Force. We spent hours marching from one place to another on the base and very quickly learned that we had to be in step with one another or the wrath of the Training Instructor would be felt.

That did not mean that we were all some sort of robots, however. There were actually vast differences in personalities and perspectives among the ranks, but we all marched in step with one another.

Sadly, there have been many conflicts in churches over minor issues that are more personal preferences than staying true to the Word of God. I am sad to say that many of the most vocal people are the ones that spend very little time in the study of the Bible.

I want to call all of us to get back into the study of God’s Word as the highest priority. Seek to draw close to other true believers and share what nuggets of truth you discover in your time in the Word. Learn what it means to be of One Accord!

Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today, trust Him completely and be a blessing!

COUNTING THE COST! – Acts 9:16 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

COUNTING THE COST!

Acts 9:16 – Devotional

Acts 9:16

“I will show him how great things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

Those who were the persecutors of Christians gave them opportunity to change their minds and recant their belief in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Their challenge was something like this: “Recant or you will die!” Some responded to their persecutors: “Repent or you will die!”

One thing that such persecution did was to weed out the namby-pamby, half-hearted followers of the Lord. When your life was on the line, you made sure that you were really ready to repent.

My great fear is that we have churches full of people who believe about Christ, who believe that He is the Son of God who came to die for our sins. They even go so far as to make a public profession of that statement. The problem is that this is not enough—There must be repentance!

Repentance is turning around and going the other way. In the verses before today’s Scripture, Saul (Paul) had been going to Damascus in order to persecute believers. On the road he was blinded by the presence of the Lord and his life suddenly turned around. Paul knew what was in store for him. He faced suffering and death, but there was a crown of righteousness waiting for him in glory!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
