GOD’S GIFT FOR US TO GIVE! – 2 Timothy 1:9 Devotional

GOD’S GIFT FOR US TO GIVE!

2 Timothy 1:9 – Devotional

2 Timothy 1:9

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Why am I here? What is the purpose of my existence? Has God given me a reason for being? Do I have an impact on the lives of those around me? Have I seen God at work in the lives of those around me because I was used by the Lord?

These are just a few of the questions we may ask ourselves to determine if and what God’s purpose is for each of us. I have even counseled people who felt that they had no spiritual purpose in life. Others had gifts and talents, but they had nothing to give and so they left the work of the Lord to others.

I once passed a church and saw a man I knew mowing the lawn. When I asked him if the church hired him to mow the lawn, he informed me that they had no idea he was doing it. He just saw a need and performed it. I discovered that there were a number of elderly people that he helped out. It was his purpose for those in need.

It may not be a ministry such as preaching or teaching that is your purpose in serving the Lord. When the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to some need, no matter how insignificant it may seem, go for it! Your purpose might seem unimportant to you, but obeying the Lord is vital to being a faithful servant.

Blessings dear hearts walk with God today and become a blessing!

AVAILABLE!

2 Timothy 4:2 – Devotional

2 Timothy 4:2

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

During the cold war years many Christians were imprisoned for their belief in Jesus Christ. Rather than collapsing in a heap and feeling sorry for themselves, many used prison as an opportunity to preach the gospel. Some even died for the faith.

In my own life I have endured occasional tests and trials. As I surrendered my situation to the Lord, He opened doors of ministry that could never have been entered any other way.

Many of you are enduring trials and tests right now. Please do not allow what you are experiencing to paralyze you from being used. Step forward and volunteer to serve in God’s army. Neither age nor physical limitations will disqualify.

It is not necessary for us to be perfect before He can use us — just forgiven. It is not necessary for us to complete a course of study to be used — just available. It is not necessary for us to be of a certain age to be used — just willing.

God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.

Blessings dear hearts. May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S PROFITABLE WORD! – 2 Timothy 3:16 Devotional

GOD’S PROFITABLE WORD!

2 Timothy 3:16 – Devotional

2 Timothy 3:16

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Buffet restaurants are popular places to eat because there are so many food choices available. The problem is that there are so many options that it is common to eat more than is appropriate. Digestive misery is the result!

In the case of God’s Word, too many people seem to feel that they are permitted to select only the portions that they find agreeable and reject the remainder. Today’s passage dispels that line of thought. We are told that ALL Scripture is the inspired (God breathed) Word of God.

If all Scripture is given by God, we need to refuse to listen to those who choose to present only the portions they like and reject the rest. Paul goes even further when instructing his son in the faith, Timothy, the purpose of Scripture: It is for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness.

Notice that it is only as these attributes are applied that the spiritually mature individual will be completely equipped for every good work. Are you faithful in applying God’s Word to your life? Remember His purpose for Scripture.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

A SPIRIT OF HUMILITY! – 2 Timothy 2:25a Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

A SPIRIT OF HUMILITY!

2 Timothy 2:25a – Devotional

2 Timothy 2:25a

“In humility correct those who oppose us. Perhaps God will lead them to repentance so they will find the truth.

I recall people describe someone who was near and dear to them. Often they try to find adjectives to describe what that person was. It is enlightening to recall that they frequently settled on humility as a defining quality.

It is so important for Christians to be known by our spirit of humility. We need to exhibit such a yielded and broken spirit before the Lord so that the Spirit of Christ within us oozes out to minister to those around us.

As I read Paul’s words to Timothy, I am impressed by his instruction to correct with gentleness the ones who are opposed to us. Those are the very ones we are to be gentle with and never to be resentful, impatient, or short with as we interact with them.

This type of Christ-like living does not occur by reading books or attending self-improvement sessions. It comes about by a constant and consistent walk with the Lord. It demands a love of His Word and time spent communing with Him in prayer. The more time we spend with Him, the more we will become like Him. The Lord is our ultimate example of humility.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
