REDEEMED! – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Devotional

REDEEMED!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit.”

In 1969 the U.S. Embassy in Iran was overpowered and the Americans inside were held hostage for 444 days. They lived in terror for over a year not knowing if they would live to see another day, be it prisoner or free. They were finally redeemed and allowed to go free, but what scars they carried with them into freedom!

Forgetting that particular incident and thinking of our redemption from sin, what is the worth of the human soul? The Lord Jesus paid the price for our redemption, and I am so grateful that we have been set free from the penalty of sin!

The writer of this hymn, Fanny Crosby, was eagerly looking forward to that day when her Redeemer would appear and her blinded eyes would be opened and she would behold the most beautiful sight she could ever imagine—Jesus!

Redeemed

(1) Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(2) Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence,
With me doth continually dwell.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(3) I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(4) I know I shall see in His beauty,
The King in whose law I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(5) I know there’s a crown that is waiting,
In yonder bright mansion for me,
And soon, with the spirits made perfect,
At home with the Lord I shall be.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

TEST YOUR LOVE! – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

TEST YOUR LOVE!

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Are you ready for the love test? Do you consider yourself a lover of God and a lover of the members of the family of God? Do you love the lost and dying enough to give yourself fully to the work of the Lord? It is time for the love test!

Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 once more but with a difference. Replace the word love with the name Jesus: JESUS NEVER FAILS! Now read it once again and replace the word love with your own name. This is your personal love test. It is rather embarrassing isn’t it? There may be a few attributes that we come close to achieving, but for the most part we receive a low grade.

It is amazing how perfectly Jesus fits into this passage. Jesus was the Father’s expression of love to a lost and dying world. Where we fail, He succeeds. He reaches down and draws us close to Him. We are not saved by passing the test, we are saved because Jesus loved us enough to die for us. If you have never opened your heart and received Jesus as your Savior, do so now before it is too late!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

AUTHENTIC LOVE! – 1 Corinthians 13:4 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

AUTHENTIC LOVE!

1 Corinthians 13:4 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 13:4

“True love suffers long and is kind; it does not envy; it does not parade itself; and is not all puffed up.”

Perhaps you have read or heard the parody of a love-sick boy sending a message to his sweetheart. He told her that he would climb the highest mountain just to be able to see her face. He would swim the widest river to capture a glimpse of her. He would fight the fiercest beast to be able to hold her hand. He closed his passionate message by saying; “I will come and see you on Friday – – if it doesn’t rain!”

Oops! Something is wrong here isn’t there? His words of love were not consistent with his actions. That silly illustration may bring a smile, but it should also be a reminder that our promises to God are frequently all too similar.

It is good to make promises to God, but He knows our heart and sees our true intent. The Lord wants us to trust Him completely and demonstrate that love by trusting Him at all times and in all things.

The Lord has done more for us than these weak minds of ours can ever grasp. We need to respond to His love by loving Him with all our heart and doing His will for us. Authentic love for God is seeking His will and doing it!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

WE HAVE THE SAME LORD! – 1 Corinthians 12:5 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

WE HAVE THE SAME LORD!

1 Corinthians 12:5 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 12:5

“There are differences of ministry, but the same Lord.”

I am so glad that we are not all the same. Some are tall and some are short. My precious mother was only 4 feet 11 inches. I once stood in line at a bank behind a professional basketball player that was somewhere north of seven feet. What a difference!

Just as we are different physically, so we have been blessed with diverse ministries. There are those who sing with the voice of an angel and those of us that croak like a frog.

We have been blessed in different manners and the last thing we as believers should do is look down on the abilities or lack of abilities of others. We should quietly allow our strengths to assist those who are weak and just as graciously receive assistance from others.

We need to stop acting like spoiled children and recognize that while we are different in our physical abilities, we have the same Lord who is the One who makes each of us precious in His sight. WE HAVE THE SAME LORD!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
