THE EYES OF FAITH!

1 Corinthians 2:9 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 2:9

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

We live in a world that has come alive with many things that have been invisible until now. Giant telescopes are revealing the vastness of space far beyond the comprehension of our forefathers. Microscopes on the other hand, have opened our eyes to the world of microbiology that is a universe in itself.

The satisfying thing to me as a believer in God and His Word is that God has revealed much of this mystery long before the scientists claim to have made their discoveries. To me it is far more logical to believe the God who created all things than to trust scientists who often are more interested in having a paper published than in honestly supporting the claims of the Bible.

I do not want to discredit sincere scientists, but it is more common for the scientific community to spend a majority of their efforts in disproving the Bible than in reporting with integrity what they discover.

Interestingly, many scientists have become believers in the Lord Jesus Christ after finding that what was taught in the classroom was contrived and lacked the support of true scientific evidence. It was most often based upon what others claimed, not on the actual evidence! True faith sees the truth!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

REDEEMED! – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

REDEEMED!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit.”

In 1969 the U.S. Embassy in Iran was overpowered and the Americans inside were held hostage for 444 days. They lived in terror for over a year not knowing if they would live to see another day, be it prisoner or free. They were finally redeemed and allowed to go free, but what scars they carried with them into freedom!

Forgetting that particular incident and thinking of our redemption from sin, what is the worth of the human soul? The Lord Jesus paid the price for our redemption, and I am so grateful that we have been set free from the penalty of sin!

The writer of this hymn, Fanny Crosby, was eagerly looking forward to that day when her Redeemer would appear and her blinded eyes would be opened and she would behold the most beautiful sight she could ever imagine—Jesus!

Redeemed

(1) Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(2) Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence,
With me doth continually dwell.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(3) I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(4) I know I shall see in His beauty,
The King in whose law I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(5) I know there’s a crown that is waiting,
In yonder bright mansion for me,
And soon, with the spirits made perfect,
At home with the Lord I shall be.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

THE WINNING SIDE! – 1 Corinthians 15:57 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

THE WINNING SIDE!

1 Corinthians 15:57 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 15:57

“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

People like to be on the winning side. I have yet to hear anyone cheer when their team is losing. For those applying for a certain job, it is a cause for celebration when they win the position over the other applicants.

In this old sin-sick world it may feel like we believers are on the losing side. The forces of evil seem to become stronger and more violent with each passing day. It may even appear that God is not concerned when we encounter suffering and loss.

When we read today’s Scripture, however, we discover that we are on the winning side. It is not because of what we do, but what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us. It may be compared with relaxing in the stands while your team struggles on the field. When your team wins you stand and cheer, “WE WON!” You may have done nothing more strenuous than eat a bag of popcorn, but you share in the team’s victory.

As believers we have been assured of victory. It is not because of anything else we have done to merit the victory other than trusting in Jesus for salvation. Victory!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

BE STEADFAST! – 1 Corinthians 15:58 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

BE STEADFAST!

1 Corinthians 15:58 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 15:58

“My dearly beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

I think we all have heard the expression; “When going gets tough, the tough get going!” Do you think that is true? What do we do when we are weak and are forced to confess our weakness? That my friend is when we let go and let God be God!

Sometimes people fail to act because they feel they are unqualified. The fact of the matter is that many great people are not that different than anyone else. The only difference is that they remained steadfast at their task.

Thomas Edison experimented with over 10,000 substances before discovering the answer in tungsten. A reporter asked him that after 9,999 failures was he ready to give up. His response was that he had not had any failures. He only found 9,999 substances that would not do the job.

Being steadfast for the Lord does not focus on the results which are evident to us. It is in being the faithful servant who keeps on doing the work God calls each of us to do and then leaving the results up to Him. Are you steadfast?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

WE WILL UNDERSTAND IT THEN! – 1 Corinthians 13:12 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

WE WILL UNDERSTAND IT THEN!

1 Corinthians 13:12 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 13:12

“Now we only see in a mirror dimly, ultimately we will see face to face. For now we know only in part, but in that day we will know just as we are also known.

As a pastor I have been called upon to officiate at hundreds of funerals. In most cases I was not acquainted with the deceased individual prior to their death. In order to make the service meaningful and personal, I always meet with their families before the service to “get acquainted” with the deceased through the family’s memories.

Interestingly, after the service people have asked me how long I had known the deceased person since it sounded like we were friends. They said they knew very little of the information I shared about the person.

At times I’ve read the obituary of someone I have known for years, but had no idea the things they had experienced. I have often wished I had known that information while they were alive so we could have discussed it.

Thinking about this makes me long for a time in heaven when we will be able to know every individual who has ever lived and rejoice about the steps that brought them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. What a day that will be!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
